Faith Formation for Children and Youth

Welcome to The Basilica of Saint Mary’s Children’s and Youth Ministries! We are glad you are here and look forward to working with your family. 

• Classes for the 2018-2019 program year start on Sunday, September 23 and run through Sunday, May 5, 2019.
• Early registration is appreciated and very helpful in planning for our program year.
• Registration is in two parts: class information (includes payment/billing information) and child(ren)/family information (this link will come in the confirmation email). Please complete both sections to ensure we have all your information and complete all sections and areas fully.
• You will receive a confirmation email upon registration. In late August, we will distribute additional information and a Program Calendar.
• We welcome all children and youth into our programs! If a section happens to fill up, we will find a spot amenable for your child and your family. No one will be turned away.

Payment Information

• $125.00 per child (through 6/30/18) or $150 per child (after 7/1/18) Includes curriculum, classroom supplies, and materials. Maximum of $375/family (through 6/30/18) or $450/family (after 7/1/18).
• Sacramental preparation payments are in addition to class registration fees. If your child(ren) will be completing First Reconciliation/First Eucharist or Confirmation, please make sure to sign them up for the appropriate grade(s) in Faith Formation. (Additional parish policies for sacramental preparation can be found on our website under Sacraments.)
• Payment is made at the time of registration. Scholarships and payment plans are available and no one will be turned away due to inability to pay.
  • If you choose "Bill Me Later", families will be asked for half the fee upon receipt, and the balance due no later than December 31, 2018.  
  • Scholarships are available too; please contact Kelli Kester. Please register your child(ren) and choose the "Bill Me Later" option to expedite registration. (Volunteer catechists and classroom helpers are allowed full scholarships for the weekly programs for their children. Please contact us if you are interested in this opportunity.)
• Students in Grades 6-12 are asked for a nominal, weekly contribution to help offset the cost of their evening meal. This can be paid each week, semester, or for the year by dropping the payment in our donation basket on Sunday evening. We have found the meal portion of our session to be instrumental in creating camaraderie and community among the young people and their catechists.
• There is no registration fee for the Basilica YES program.

Volunteer Opportunities

It takes many volunteers in a variety of roles to make The Basilica’s Faith Formation programs so wonderful. Parents. Grandparents. Siblings. Everyone is invited to become involved. Opportunities include preparing materials, teaching and assisting in the classrooms, and many other roles. If you are interested in helping in any capacity, please contact Kelli Kester. There is an application and interview process, and for the safety and care of our children, a backgound check, agreeing to a volunteer code of conduct, and participating in an Archdiocesan VIRTUS class are required for volunteer opportunities within the Learning Department.
