Cantor Lead the assembly in song during liturgies approximately once a month. Vocal proficiency and experience is required and cantors rotate throughout all liturgies. Mandatory workshop on Wednesday (6:00pm-700:pm) before your Sunday assignment. Selection by audition and appointment.

Children's Music Ministry Accompany children's choir at rehearsals and performances.
Choir: Cathedral The Cathedral Choir sings at 9:30 am Sunday liturgies from September through June along with major feast days (Christmas, Easter, etc), and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm. An audition is required for choir membership.

Choir: Cathedral Chorister Open to children entering grades 4-8 in the fall (unchanged voice). Sing for a select number of liturgies throughout the liturgical season. Rehearsals on Wednesdays, 5:45-7:00pm in St. Cecilia Room, Rectory. Voice check - not audition - by appointment. Tuition is $55/semester.

Choir: Chant Male/Female groups meet prior to Cathedral Choir rehearsal on Wednesday and Sundays to rehearse and sing the Introit chant for 9:30 mass.
Choir: Cherub Open to Pre-K children. Rehearses 5:30pm-6:00pm in the lower level of the school. Sings for two formal liturgies during the year. Kindermusik based with parent involvement.

Choir: Children's Open for children entering grades 1-3 in the fall. Sing for a select number of liturgical events during the course of the liturgical year (September-May). Rehearsals on Wednesday, 6:00pm-7:00pm in the Choir Room of the school building. Tuition is $50/semester.

Choir: Handbells Ring handbells for festive masses, i.ee. Christmas/Easter/Pentecost. Rehearses on Wednesday evenings or by special appointment. Music reading is helpful.
Choir: Junior Cantors Opportunity for youth to learn to the lead the assembly in song. Acceptance by audition. Scheduled for various masses with an adult mentor in the cantor ministry.
Choir: Juventus Basilica Youth Ensemble for youth grades 8 and up, leads music at the 4:30pm Sunday Mass, September through early June. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays from 7:15-8:30pm. Prior choral experience and music reading skills preferred. Placement for instrumentalists and singers by audition or appointment.

Choir: Mundus MUNDUS sings at 11:30 am Sunday liturgies twice a month from September through June along with select feast days (Christmas, Easter, etc), and rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm. An audition is required for choir membership.

Choir: Schola Cantorum Semi-professional group. Sings vespers and other scheduled liturgies. Music degree preferred and audition required.
Concert and Event Ushers Greet event patrons, provide information and assistance as needed. Events usually take place on weekend evenings, some afternoons. Busiest months are October - December and February - April, for a total of about 20 events per year. Volunteer for one or two events....more is great! Time commitment is 4-5 hours per event. Training provided at each event prior to opening doors to attendees. Gifts/skills include hospitality, ability to work with others and follow directions. Disabilities Awareness Ministry The Basilica of Saint Mary is looking for volunteers and input into initiatives to become more aware of the needs of those members with disabilities.


Gifts Leadership Team Provide leadership for the parish-wide effort to equip members for ministry. The mission is to create and nurture an environment where everyone in our faith community can recgognize, claim, and use their gifts in living our their baptismal call. Work on communications, annual ministry fair, pledge of time and talents. Monthly meetings and completion of tasks and projects outside of meetings.
Higher Ground Meal Team Join the The Basilica's Catholic Charities meal team. Cooks and serves the evening meal at the men's shelter in downtown Minneapolis. Pre-selected weeknight from 6:30-8:30 pm. Loaves and Fishes Meal Cook and serve a meal the fourth Friday of each month to those faced with the challenges of hunger. Minneapolis and St. Paul locations.
Mental Health Awareness Ministry The steering committee meets monthly and focuses on awareness, education, and outreach for our parishioners, their families, and the Twin Cities community at large.


RCIA Sponsor: 2016-2017 RCIA Sponsors are fully initated Catholics who journey alongside the inquirers discerning their call to the Catholic faith. Sponsors attend weekly Tuesday evening sessions with the inquirers, as well as retreats and Rites that are a part of the RCIA process. The RCIA program year runs September through Spring. Rectory Hospitality The parish office is a busy place! Help it run smoothly by admitting visitors and distributing sandwiches to our hungry neighbors. Get to know staff members and what makes the Basilica tick! Weekly shift of 3-4 hours. We are flexible with regard to travel plans or personal commitments that arise. SVdP: Pathways Children's Ministry DO YOU ENJOY WORKING WITH KIDS? Be part of The Basilica's vibrant St. Vincent de Paul Ministry. A key component of the Pathways Program is the free care that is offered for children ages 1-11. Two volunteers at each session provide a safe and fun environment for kids while their parent(s)/guardian(s) participate in the program. Games, toys, and books are provided. All we need is you! Time commitment is one Thursday per month from 6:30-8:15 pm. Background check and VIRTUS Training required.


SVdP: Pathways Facilitator The facilitator helps to ensure a successful program by overseeing the operational aspects. Serve as point person for contact, greet guests, track attendance, lead prayer and affirmation portion of the session. St. Vincent de Paul PATHWAYS is a faith-based, life-skills program. Participants are empowered to change their lives by becoming more self-aware, building relationships, and setting and working towards realistic goals. Thursday evenings. Background check required.
SVdP: Pathways Meal Host Help to serve a meal on selected Thursday evenings to approximately 25 guests at the Pathways life-skills class. All meal costs reimbursed by the Basillica. SVdP: Pathways Table Host Welcome participants to the Pathways progam as they sit at a table with you, share the meal with them, listen and engage guests in conversation. St. Vincent dePaul PATHWAYS is a 9-session, faith-based, life-skills program. An important part of the program is the fellowship that happens during the meal. Thursday evenings.
