Description: Docents provide tours related to the architectural and religious significance of The Basilica of Saint Mary. Tours are regularly scheduled on Sundays after the 9:30am and 11:30am Masses, or by appointment. Training and ongoing support is provided.

TRAINING WORKSHOP OCCURS ONCE A YEAR in the fall. There are nine mandatory training sessions. During the training period, participants are required to shadow seasoned docents either after the 9:30am Mass or 11:30am Mass. At the completion of training, participants will lead the coordinator of the workshop on a tour of The Basilica before they are added to the roster of active docents. If you are interested in becoming a docent, your contact information will be recorded. Prior to the scheduling of a training workshop, a notice will be sent to you.

Acolyte Acolytes (altar servers) have the unique privilege of serving God at the altar. Training is provided and acolytes serve once a month.

Adult Confirmation Sponsor To sponsor adults who are going through The Basilica's process of Adult Confirmation Preparation
Adult Learning Hospitality Helper Help in setting up, serving, and cleaning up hospitality (refreshments) at Adult Learning Events.
Altar Guild Members of the Altar Guild care for the vessels, vestments, shrines, and chapels of the Basilica. With guidance from the coordinator of liturgical celebrations, guild members set their own schedule and select the tasks which interest them.

Archives Volunteers assist the Archivist with ongoing and one-time projects: Cataloging archival materials, rehousing fragile items, researching events and the provenance of items in the collection.
Basilica Day Help provide extra-special hospitality for this day celebrating the founding of The Basilica. Choose how you'd like to help: set-up tables & tents, decorate, run children's games and activities, scoop ice cream, clean-up.
Basilica Voices for Justice Network Raise your voice for justice! Join The Basilica's advocacy network. You will receive one to two e-mail action alerts each month inviting you to contact your legislators about local, state or national issues and informing you about opportunities to learn more about advocacy.

Blessing of the Animals Volunteers assist with hospitality/ushering, setup, cleanup and other logisitics for this inter-denominational liturgical event to bless all creatures on the first Sunday in October.

The event begins at 1:30 p.m., however, volunteers are needed beginning at 11:00 a.m. or noon.
Blessing of the Wheels Once every year we invite parishioners and non-parishioners alike to join us for the Blessing of the Wheels. This can include all types of personal, wheeled transport from strollers, bikes, wheelchairs, skateboards, rollerboards, and much more. This event includes information tables, food vendors, a blessing of bikes, and group ride. Support the event in a variety of ways, including setup and take down, hospitality, and bike corral security.
Blood Drive Coordinator Serve on team coordinating two blood drives at The Basilica each year. Work with Memorial Blood Centers to schedule dates, publicize event through Basilica communications, staff donor sign up tables after Masses prior to the blood drive.
