Acolyte Acolytes (altar servers) have the unique privilege of serving God at the altar. Training is provided and acolytes serve once a month.

After-Mass Hospitality Provide welcome and hospitality to all following our weekend liturgies. Greet parishioners and help serve our famous doughnuts in Teresa of Calcutta Hall. Or staff our Information Desk to answer questions and help visitors register to become members of our parish community. Time commitment is about 30 minutes on a regular or occasional basis.
Altar Guild Members of the Altar Guild care for the vessels, vestments, shrines, and chapels of the Basilica. With guidance from the coordinator of liturgical celebrations, guild members set their own schedule and select the tasks which interest them.

Basilica Voices for Justice Network Raise your voice for justice! Join The Basilica's advocacy network. You will receive one to two e-mail action alerts each month inviting you to contact your legislators about local, state or national issues and informing you about opportunities to learn more about advocacy.

Care Center Ministry Serve at Care Centers. Visit with residents, bring them Eucharist, or help with liturgical services. Background check required.


Community Service Project Take part in a community service event at The Basilica following Mass. Join us to help feed hungry people both here in the Twin Cities and around the world. 11/13/2016 11/13/2016
Concert and Event Ushers Greet event patrons, provide information and assistance as needed. Events usually take place on weekend evenings, some afternoons. Busiest months are October - December and February - April, for a total of about 20 events per year. Volunteer for one or two events....more is great! Time commitment is 4-5 hours per event. Training provided at each event prior to opening doors to attendees. Gifts/skills include hospitality, ability to work with others and follow directions. Ecological Justice
Funeral Hospitality Provide a time and place for friends and family to gather for refreshment following a funeral or memorial for a loved one. Commitment is on an as-needed basis, with 48 hours notice.

Information Desk - After Mass Help welcome both parishioners and visitors to the Basilica. Provide information on a variety Basilica programs and events and assist interested persons with the member registration process.Time commitment is about 30 minutes once a month following your preferred weekend Mass time.
Minister of Hospitality Ushers (also known as Ministers of Hospitality) play an important role in strengthening The Basilica's reputation as a welcoming community. Greet members and guests before Mass, take the collection, distribute leaflets and newsletters. Training is provided. Commitment is just one Sunday a month. We especially need ministers to serve at the 4:30 Sunday Mass and Holy Days.
Prayer Line Here's a way to volunteer at home on your own time. As a participant in The Basilica Prayer Line, you will receive a weekly list of requested intentions to include in your daily prayer.
Prayer Shawl Ministry Do you knit? Want to learn? Gather with other crafters the 1st & 3rd Tuesday, 10:30 am - Noon. Knit, pray, and bless the shawls to be given to members of our community who are ill or suffering in some way. Unable to meet on a weekday morning? You can also knit on your own time and bring the shawls to the parish office.

Refugee Family Sponsor Team Help refugee families adjust to life in the United States. Work with a group of Basilica parishioners to help ease the transition for Refugee Families The Basilica sponsors along with Lutheran Social Services. 11/19/2015
SVdP: Pathways Children's Ministry DO YOU ENJOY WORKING WITH KIDS? Be part of The Basilica's vibrant St. Vincent de Paul Ministry. A key component of the Pathways Program is the free care that is offered for children ages 1-11. Two volunteers at each session provide a safe and fun environment for kids while their parent(s)/guardian(s) participate in the program. Games, toys, and books are provided. All we need is you! Time commitment is one Thursday per month from 6:30-8:15 pm. Background check and VIRTUS Training required.


SVdP: Pathways Meal Host Help to serve a meal on selected Thursday evenings to approximately 25 guests at the Pathways life-skills class. All meal costs reimbursed by the Basillica. Meals can be ordered from various vendors or made at home and brought in. Call Julia at 612-317-3413 or email her at jfreeman@mary.org for more information on this fun and rewarding opportunity.
