After-Mass Hospitality Provide welcome and hospitality to all following our weekend liturgies. Greet parishioners and help serve our famous doughnuts in Teresa of Calcutta Hall. Or staff our Information Desk to answer questions and help visitors register to become members of our parish community. Time commitment is about 30 minutes on a regular or occasional basis.
Altar Guild Members of the Altar Guild care for the vessels, vestments, shrines, and chapels of the Basilica. With guidance from the coordinator of liturgical celebrations, guild members set their own schedule and select the tasks which interest them. Connect Desk
Disabilities Awareness Ministry Disabilities Awareness Ministry meets monthly and focuses on awareness, education, outreach, and programming for our parishioners and their families. Members act as liaisons with the Parish leadership to help all become more aware of the needs of those members with disabilities, accessibility or inclusion issues. The committee plans a number of events for Disability Awareness Month in October each year.
Docent Docents provide tours related to the architectural and religious significance of The Basilica of Saint Mary. Tours are regularly scheduled on Sundays after the 9:30am and 11:30am Masses, or by appointment. Training and ongoing support is provided.
Fall Festival - Event Staff Fun, free, annual event for all ages. Help with set-up or take-down, decorating, serving food and beverages, or children's activities. Do you clown, juggle, or tumble? Play music? Can you paint faces? Share that with our Parish Community at the Fall Festival.
Funeral Hospitality Provide setup and hospitality at The Basilica for friends and family to gather for refreshment following a funeral or memorial for a loved one. Commitment is on an as-needed basis, with 48 hours notice.
Listening Ministry As church, we are called to welcome the stranger. Listening ministers are available to listen to guests, with a variety of needs, who find their way to The Basilica. Weekly shifts available. Time commitment is flexible.Training and ongoing support provided. The ideal minister is able to listen without judgment and without needing to fix or solve the guest's problems.
Minister of Hospitality Ushers (also known as Ministers of Hospitality) play an important role in strengthening The Basilica's missino to be a welcoming and inclusive community. Greet members and guests before Mass, receive the collection, distribute leaflets and newsletters. Training is provided. Commitment is one Sunday a month. Prayer Shawl Ministry Do you knit? Want to learn? Gather with other crafters the 1st & 3rd Tuesday, 10:30 am - Noon. Knit, pray, and bless the shawls to be given to members of our community who are ill or suffering in some way. Unable to meet on a weekday morning? You can also knit on your own time and bring the shawls to the parish rectory.
