Description
Acolyte
Acolytes (altar servers) have the unique privilege of serving God at the altar. Training is provided. Acolytes serve Mass once a month on a team. Sign up to attend ministry training at www.mary.org/liturgicalministry.
After-Mass Hospitality
Provide welcome and hospitality to all following our weekend liturgies. Greet parishioners and help serve our famous doughnuts in Teresa of Calcutta Hall. Or staff our Information Desk to answer questions and help visitors register to become members of our parish community. Time commitment is about 30 minutes on a regular or occasional basis.
Altar Guild
Members of the Altar Guild care for the vessels, vestments, shrines, and chapels of the Basilica. With guidance from the coordinator of liturgical celebrations, guild members set their own schedule and select the tasks which interest them. Basilica Book Club
Members meet monthly to discuss a book. Books are chosen once a year by the members. Previously called Crossroads Book Club.
Basilica Landcare
Help beautify and care for our grounds by volunteering to help mow, plant, water, and weed as needed.
Cantor
Lead the assembly in song during liturgies approximately once a month. Vocal proficiency and experience is required and cantors rotate throughout all liturgies. Mandatory workshop on Wednesday (6:00pm-700:pm) before your Sunday assignment. Selection by audition and appointment.
Care Center Ministry
Serve at Care Centers. Visit with residents, bring them Eucharist, or help with liturgical services. Background check required.
Children's Ministry
Help to foster faith in our beautiful children. Training and ongoing support provided. All volunteers must completed our Safe Environment Requirements. Volunteers are needed on both Sunday and Wednesdays.
Children's Music Ministry
Volunteers who help with The Basilica's many Children's Music Ministries in a variety of ways.
Choir: Cathedral
The Cathedral Choir sings at 9:30am Sunday liturgies from September through June along with major feast days (Christmas, Easter, etc), and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm. An audition is required for choir membership.
Choir: Cathedral Chorister
Open to children entering grades 4-8 in the fall (unchanged voice). Sing for a select number of liturgies throughout the liturgical season. Rehearsals on Wednesdays, 5:45-7:00pm in St. Cecilia Room, Rectory. Voice check - not audition - by appointment. Tuition is $55/semester.
Choir: Chant
Male/Female groups meet prior to Cathedral Choir rehearsal on Wednesday and Sundays to rehearse and sing the Introit chant for 9:30 mass.
Choir: Cherub
Open to Pre-K children. Rehearses 5:30pm-6:00pm in the lower level of the school. Sings for two formal liturgies during the year. Kindermusik based with parent involvement.
Choir: Children's
Open for children entering grades 1-3 in the fall. Sing for a select number of liturgical events during the course of the liturgical year (September-May). Rehearsals on Wednesday, 6:00pm-7:00pm in the Choir Room of the school building. Tuition is $50/semester.
Choir: Contemporary Ensemble
A rotating ensemble of singers and instrumentalists ministers at the 11:30am, 4:30pm, or 6:30pm Masses. Musicians are highly motivated, skilled, and capable of preparing music on their own. Placement is by audition only.
