Basilica Book Club
Members meet monthly to discuss a book. Books are chosen once a year by the members. Previously called Crossroads Book Club.
Basilica Landcare
Help beautify and care for our grounds by volunteering to help mow, plant, water, and weed as needed.
Centering Prayer Participant
Docent
Docents provide tours related to the architectural and religious significance of The Basilica of Saint Mary. Tours are regularly scheduled on Sundays after the 9:30am and 11:30am Masses, or by appointment. Training and ongoing support is provided.
Rectory Hospitality
The parish office is a busy place! Help it run smoothly by admitting visitors and distributing sandwiches to our hungry neighbors. Get to know staff members and what makes the Basilica tick! Weekly shift of 3-4 hours. We are flexible with regard to travel plans or personal commitments that arise.
Rectory Listening
As church, we are called to welcome the stranger. Listening ministers are available to listen to guests, with a variety of needs, who find their way to The Basilica. Weekly shifts available. Time commitment is flexible.Training and ongoing support provided. The ideal minister is able to listen without judgment and without needing to fix or solve the guest's problems.
Rectory Reception
The rectory receptionist is the first point of contact for those visiting or calling the Parish Office. Duties include fielding and routing all phone calls that come into the main switchboard. The rectory receptionist works closely with the hospitality volunteer to ensure that each visitor is welcomed with Christian hospitality. Commitment is one three-hours shift on weekedays, between 8:30am and 5:00 pm. We accomodate illness and vacations.
SVdP Pathways Faith-Based Life Skills Ministry
Each Thursday evening about 25 people gather in the Basilica school to enjoy a community meal and learn important life skills in a faith setting. Volunteers manage this amazing program. Time commitment is 6:00-8:30pm one Thursday each month.
SVdP Shoe Ministry
Each Monday and Saturday morning, St. Vincent de Paul Shoe Ministry takes place in the Teresa of Calcutta Hall. Volunteer positions include Advocate (fill out shoe vouchers/use database), Listener, Hospitality helper, and Intake Volunteer.
